In Summer 2009,
the Revised Edition of Alfred Wainwright’s Seventh Pictorial Guide to the
Lakeland Fells is to be published. To celebrate
this publication, and also the completion of the work done by
Chris Jesty, the Wainwright Society challenged its members to record ascents
of all the 214 Lakeland Fells between the 9th and 17th
May.
Hallin Fell was my chosen fell but because
of personal commitments it was completed a little before the dates chosen by
The Society (in
combination with my own personal challenge of
completing all the fells identified in Alfred Wainwright’s The Outlying Fells
of Lakeland).
Climbing the fells was also used as a fund
raising event for two Search and Rescue Dog Associations – SARDA (
