Route Map

The top of Clouds Lane - Green Fell in the distance.

High Stennerskeugh Farm and the old limekiln.

The Howgills over Stennerskeugh Clouds……………

………………….and again from higher up.

High Dolphinsty - behind in the distance beyond the Eden Valley is Cross Fell.

Looking across Mallerstang to High Seat.

Ascending the short steep section of the north ridge to The Nab.

The Nab…………….nearly there.

Looking down the The Nab's north ridge…………….

……………..and again from the summit.

Mallerstang Edge.

The lofty escarpment makes a short but excellent high level traverse.

Yoadcomb Scar.

Just beyond Yoadcomb Scar is an impressive collection of stone men.

Like other groups of cairns in the area, the Nine Standards and the Three Men of Gragareth, their origins of these stone men are lost in time.

Yoadcomb Scar…………………

………………….and again, undoubtedly the high point of this walk, in more ways than one.

The summit of  Wild Boar Fell where the triangulation column fits snugly into a wind shelter.

The Howgills over Sand Tarn - in the past, millstones were fashioned from the rocky outcrops hereabouts.

A frozen Sand Tarn.

Fell End Clouds and the Howgills.

There are many Fell Ponies on the lower slopes.
